After studying business administration at Texas Wesleyan University and at Texas Christian University, Nadia Cavner built a successful career as a financial advisor, serving clients from her headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for more than 25 years. Nadia Cavner also supports humanitarian groups and arts organizations, such as the Assyrian Arts Institute.

Formed to support artists from Assyria, the Assyrian Arts Institute helps those displaced from the area of Mesopotamia now divided among the countries of Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey. Through supporting these artists, the institute hopes to uphold their traditions and assist them in continuing to contribute to creative expression in areas ranging from the visual arts to the performing arts and culinary arts.

As part of its support for these artists, the Institute showcases their work and offers it for sale through its website. One of them, Nahrin Malki, focuses on the theme of suffering in her paintings, drawing on her Syrian heritage. To view some of her paintings available for purchase or to learn more about the institute, visit www.assyrianartsinstitute.org.

Nadia Cavner studied business administration at Texas Christian University (TCU). Between 1991 and 2014 she led Nadia Cavner Group Investment Services in Springfield, Missouri, as president and chief financial consultant. She now focuses her efforts on community organizations and local charities, including Care to Learn.

In 2016, Ms. Cavner made a significant contribution to Care to Learn, an educational group dedicated to the most in-need children of the Ozarks region. A longtime supporter of the organization, her $100,000 donation was made primarily with the intention of helping Care to Learn expand its services to more schools throughout Missouri. Care to Learn’s founder, Doug Pitt, praised the contribution and explained how Ms. Cavner’s sponsorship has been integral to the development of new programs dating back to her support of chapters in Bradleyville and Hartville.

Over the course of the last decade, Care to Learn has established more than 30 chapters throughout Missouri. Despite the organization’s success, Mr. Pitt, donors like Ms. Cavner, and the rest of the Care to Learn staff agree that the organization’s primary goal moving forward is to provide services to a greater number of children.

Nadia Cavner is a former financial advisor who has dedicated much of her life to supporting the work of charitable organizations and initiatives around the world. Among these is the Missouri-based charity Care to Learn, which focuses on providing school-aged children in the state with access to health, food, and hygiene resources, with the goal of giving kids from underserved communities an equal opportunity to learn. In 2016, Nadia Cavner donated $15,000 to start a new Care to Learn chapter in the Monett school district, desiring to bring security and hope to students and families in the community.

Since expanding the Care to Learn’s reach to Monett, Ms. Cavner has spent significant time working to ensure the organization has what they need to fulfill their mission in the community, and students have what they need to succeed in school and everyday life. In November of 2017, Ms. Cavner generously donated an additional $15,000 to Care to Learn’s Monett chapter, jump-starting the activities of the organization in the district. Her ongoing and unwavering support of area children is making a great impact through the Care to Learn organization, furthering and bettering the lives of a new generation.

A graduate of Texas Wesleyan University, Nadia Cavner spent 23 years in the finance sector. Today, Nadia Cavner focuses on philanthropic work on both the local and global levels, from making yearly donations to the charity Care to Learn in her home state of Missouri to building support for initiatives that benefit the Tibetan people, the plight of whom is often spoken about by the Dalai Lama.

“Dalai Lama” is the title bestowed upon the leader of the Tibetan Buddhist religion, who the group believes is reincarnated into a new body after the death of the previous Dalai Lama. In his 14th manifestation, the Dalai Lama is Tenzin Gyatso, who was recognized as the successor of Thubten Gyatso at two years old.

In his life, the Dalai Lama has three primary responsibilities, or commitments. His first commitment is to promote positive values like tolerance, compassion, and forgiveness; he travels around the world spreading these ideas and explaining their importance. His second is to advocate for harmony among world religions. Lastly, as a Tibetan monk and countryman, he focuses on the preservation of Tibet’s Buddhist history and culture of peace.
