Nadia Cavner – An Overview of The Kitchen

Honored as the Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Nadia Cavner donates her time and resources to a number of worthwhile causes. Nadia Cavner actively supports the American Heart Association, which named Ms. Cavner as Missourian of the Year. She also serves on the board of trustees for the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks and was a board member of The Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that serves individuals in need. Below is a brief overview of The Kitchen.

Answer #1: Established in 1983, The Kitchen is a nonprofit organization that has provided food, housing, and medical attention to individuals in need in Springfield, Missouri, and the surrounding areas. The Kitchen operates in several locations in Springfield, many of which were old buildings that were renovated to house The Kitchen’s medical clinic, soup kitchen, administrative offices, and other services.

Question #2: What are some of the programs that the organization offers?

Answer #2: The Kitchen offers several programs, including Bill’s Place, which is a safe haven and walk-in center where the homeless and mentally ill can come for support and counseling; Maggie’s Boutique, which offers gently used clothing and household items at a reduced price; and The Kitchen Clinic, which provides medical and dental services to members of the community.

Question #3: How does one get involved?

Answer #3: The Kitchen accepts financial contributions of any amount, as well as donations of food, clothing, and household items. The organization also welcomes volunteers who wish to donate their time to help The Kitchen continue to fulfill its mission.
